MAIN JOB PURPOSE

\n

The candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching, assessment, research, and dissertation supervision across Finance and FinTech at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with particular contribution to the MSc Finance & Investment or MSc FinTech programmes.

\n

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

\n

Teaching Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Teaching at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, including assisting with lectures, tutoring, seminars, and computer lab sessions.
  • \n
  • Acting as a personal tutor to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • \n
  • Supervising UG or MSc dissertations in the relevant area.
  • \n
  • Marking exams and coursework papers for graduate and undergraduate students; with curriculum development/enhancement in line with the school ambition/strategy.
  • \n
  • Actively contributing to the function of the school by attending meetings and seminars and undertaking administrative duties assigned by the Head of School.
  • \n
  • Proactive approach to professional development and scholarship.
  • \n
  • Financial Modelling: Expertise in financial modelling, corporate finance, investments, risk management,
  • \n
  • Excel/VBA, and preferably Python.
  • \n
  • Research Methods & Dissertation Teaching: Strong quantitative research skills, experience with statistical software and financial databases, and the ability to teach and supervise postgraduate dissertations.
  • \n
  • Large-Scale Data Engineering for FinTech: Expertise in cloud computing, big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop ecosystem), data engineering, and data management.
  • \n
  • Introduction to AI & Data Analysis: Knowledge of AI/ML, data analytics, visualization, text analytics, and relevant programming/software tools.
  • \n

Administration Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • If needed, fulfilling the role of unit/course director or aiding unit/course director in the administration, development, and teaching of the relevant unit.
  • \n
  • Responsibilities are likely to include administering graduate and undergraduate degree programmes in finance or similar, including new programme development, promotion and admissions; organising and monitoring delivery of units; overseeing the welfare of students; liaising with external examiners; and/or reviewing and revising programmes in accordance with school and faculty policy.
  • \n
  • Making a wider contribution to the success of the University from their participation in faculty and University wide governance and development activities.
  • \n
  • Other leadership and administrative duties as assigned by the Head of Group.

  • Expertise in Finance, FinTech, Data Science, or closely related disciplines.

  • Knowledge of AI/ML, data engineering, cloud computing, big data technologies, data visualisation, and text analytics.
