Job Purpose and primary objectives:

\n
• Responsible for managing, maintaining, enhancing and strategic development of all database related technologies in EMEA as well as internationally for the Securities Business.
\n
• The Database Operations team are responsible for providing 24x7 RDBMS and MSSQL database support in EMEA and internationally for the Securities Business.
\n

• Responsible for ensuring daily health and compliance checks are performed for all Production systems.
\n
• Responsible for ensuring database systems are backed up successfully and any issues are promptly resolved.
\n
• Responsible for ensuring database jobs are running successfully and any issues are promptly resolved.
\n
• Responsible for ensuring database monitoring alerts are detected promptly and satisfactorily resolved.
\n
• Responsible for ensuring sufficient capacity is available to accommodate projected BAU growth.
\n
• Responsible for ensuring all emails sent to the team distribution list are responded to in a timely manner.
\n
• Responsible for ensuring problem tickets and service requests are handled with efficiency and the customer in mind.
\n
• Responsible for ensuring database platforms are highly available, reliable, secure and performant.
\n
• Responsible for database installation, configuration, tuning, upgrades, and general maintenance activities.
\n
• Responsible for providing technical support to application support and development teams.
\n
• Responsible for providing consultancy to application support and development teams on database and systems design.
\n
• Responsible for executing disaster recovery procedures when necessary.
\n
• Responsible for applying database security updates as per defined policies.
\n
• Responsible for reviewing and subsequently remediating items detected by Qualys vulnerability and compliance scans.
\n
• Responsible for ensuring that all project/investment related workloads are delivered according to plans and budget defined.
\n
• Responsible for ensuring all operational procedures are kept current and accurate.
\n
• Responsible for participating in On-Call rotation, triaging, and addressing production issues as they arise.
\n
• Responsible for identifying cost saving and optimisation.
\n
• Responsible for building strong relationships across the Bank and Securities with other Bank and Securities functions and business areas, underpinned by trust and the core values of the bank.

Key Skills/Knowledge:

Essential:

\n
• Strong SQL DB Administration skills on SQL Server 2012 and above.
\n
• Strong skill set on Database disaster recovery, backup restore.
\n
• Install, patch and upgrade existing SQL Server, Sybase infrastructure.
\n
• Manage SQL implementations, ranging from small departmental systems to large scale and global critical mission with ability to support large number of servers using virtualization.
\n
• Should have expertise on CIS Hardening, security vulnerability fixes.
\n
• Should have strong experience/background in Windows PowerShell.
\n
• Performance monitoring and tuning using Dynamic Views, SQL Trace, Extended Events and Execution Plans
\n
• Business as usual activities involved troubleshooting failed jobs, SSIS packages and provision of resolutions
\n
• Configure ASE mon, expertise in point in time recovery
\n
• Knowledge of configuring Linux and Windows operating systems for optimal database performance.
\n
• Good amount of knowledge in networking, storage, server, and virtualization layers.
\n
• Excellent knowledge of logical and physical database design.
\n
• Excellent knowledge of database installation and configuration.
\n
• Excellent knowledge of backup and recovery strategies.
\n
• Excellent knowledge of database performance and tuning.
\n
• Excellent knowledge of database migrations and upgrades.

• Excellent knowledge of clustering and high availability.

• Excellent knowledge of replication and disaster recovery.

• Excellent knowledge of database security and auditing.

• Excellent knowledge of data security governance and regulations such as GDPR and SOX.

• High-level working knowledge on MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB is added advantage
