Vessel IT Engineer

Summary: The Vessel IT Engineer will be a part of IT Department and is responsible for managing, supporting, maintaining and upgrading the on-board IT infrastructure of X-Press Feeders and her subsidiary vessels.

The successful candidate will provide remote IT support, and when required on-board support on our vessels. The position offers development in IT knowledge, tele-communication and cyber security skills in a multicultural environment.

Reports to: Senior Manager, Vessel IT

Role and Responsibilities:

• Provide support to our fleet of vessels and crew, remotely and on-board
\n
• Install, configure and troubleshooting physical/virtual machines, laptops, printers, mobiles, tablets, storage systems and network devices (hardware, operating systems and software applications)
\n
• Participate in the design, implementation of our vessels' IT infrastructure
\n
• Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
\n
• Perform system and network updates/upgrades
\n
• Maintain IT security and backup solutions
\n
• Liaise with vendors, email providers and other IT personnel for problem resolution or when new tasks are needed
\n
• Provide out-of-business hours/weekend support as part of an on-call rota
\n
• Occasional ship-boarding is required.
\n

Requirements:

\n
• Bachelor in Computer Science or equivalent.
\n
• 2 - 5 years of relevant vessel IT experience.
\n
• Experience in implementing and supporting cyber security solutions is preferred.
\n
• Knowledge of hardware troubleshooting, data cabling and WiFi infrastructure.
\n
• Knowledge of ships automation systems will be a plus.
\n
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
\n
• Ambitious, self-motivated, fast learner with can-do attitude and a genuine interest in all aspects of IT Support.
\n
• Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and flexibility to work prolonged hours.
\n
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to quickly address and resolve issues in high-pressure environments.
\n
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
\n
• Proactive and forward thinking.
\n
• Ability to work independently in remote locations with limited access to support.
\n
• Good team player to effectively work with diverse teams.
\n
