SaaS Operations Lead

We're hiring a Lead SaaS Operations (Senior Director equivalent) in Pune to be the most senior production-engineering leader in our India organisation. You will own DevOps/CI-CD (which operates SRE practices), Security, and Database Operations — leading a 4-person team with 4 direct reports and reporting to the US-based VP of Platform & SaaS Operations.

You are the daylight-hours operational anchor for production reliability, incident response, deployment, database health, and security infrastructure. You run the daily cadence, develop the team, and own production health from the India seat.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

Production Reliability & SRE Practices

• Own SLOs, on-call rotation, incident command during India business hours, and blameless post-mortem culture
• Drive MTTD <15 min for P1 and MTTR <2 hrs for P1 as steady-state operating targets
• Run weekly incident review and monthly SLO review with the team and US leadership
• Hand off overnight incidents to the US per documented runbook; run daily handoff with US VP

DevOps & CI/CD

• Operate the Azure DevOps Pipelines estate — environment promotion, release gates, deployment safety, rollback procedures
• Own infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/Bicep) for all Azure resources; enforce IaC-only changes to production
• Drive deployment frequency up and change-failure rate down as DORA metrics

Database Operations

• Manage the DBA Lead and production SQL Server / Azure SQL estate
• Own query performance baselines, indexing strategy, capacity planning, and HA/DR posture
• Partner with the AI/Data Science function on read-replica architecture for analytics and AI workloads

Security Infrastructure

• Manage the Security Engineer and platform-side security controls
• Operate Defender for Cloud and Sentinel; manage vulnerability findings to closure
• Own secret rotation, certificate lifecycle, and mTLS configuration
• Collect HITRUST and SOC 2 audit evidence for platform-side controls

Team & Cross-Functional

• Lead and develop 4 direct reports: 2 Senior DevOps/CI-CD Engineers, 1 Security Engineer, 1 DBA Lead
• Run structured 1:1s; reskill engineers transitioning into DevOps/SRE practices from adjacent roles

Partner with Engineering Service Centre on the boundary between operational support and platform engineering.

WHAT YOU BRING

Experience

• 12+ years infrastructure/SRE/DevOps; 5+ years leading DevOps, SRE, or SaaS Ops teams (4–10 FTE) in India
• Personally owned a multi-tenant SaaS production environment: ran on-call, commanded Sev1 incidents, wrote blameless post-mortems
• Healthcare SaaS experience strongly preferred; comparable regulated-industry experience (financial services, regulated SaaS, PCI/SOX) acceptable
• Comfortable reporting to a US-based manager with a 9.5-hour timezone offset

Technical Depth

• Microsoft Azure: App Service, SQL Database, Storage, AAD, networking — operating experience at production scale
• Observability: Azure Application Insights, Log Analytics, KQL queries, OpenTelemetry, structured logging
• CI/CD: Azure DevOps Pipelines (preferred) or GitHub Actions; Terraform/Bicep IaC
• Database: SQL Server / Azure SQL — query plan analysis, indexing strategy, performance tuning under production load
• Security: Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, Key Vault, certificate management, mTLS configuration

Leadership

• Demonstrated coaching and reskilling capability (engineers from adjacent specialties into SRE/DevOps)
• Excellent written communicator in English — runbooks, post-mortems, executive status updates
• Comfortable with US-overlap working hours (typically 6:30–10:00 PM IST) for daily handoff — non-negotiable
