What you'll build:

We are seeking a Development Architect / Associate Development Architect with strong expertise in SAP Mobile Development, modern mobile platforms, and enterprise architecture principles. This role goes beyond implementation—you will define technical direction, design scalable mobile architectures, and guide development teams in building secure, high-performance SAP mobile solutions.

You will work at the intersection of business requirements, SAP backend systems, and SAP mobile platforms, ensuring solutions are robust, maintainable, and future-ready.

Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Define and own the mobile architecture for SAP-based solutions, including app structure, data flow, security, and integration patterns.

• Establish coding standards, architectural guidelines, and best practices for mobile and MDK-based development.

• Make technology choices and trade-offs with long-term scalability, performance, and maintainability in mind.

SAP Mobile & MDK Expertise

• Design and oversee enterprise mobile applications using SAP Mobile Development Kit (MDK).

• Drive integration strategies with SAP backend systems using OData, REST APIs, and SAP services.

• Guide teams on MDK customization, extension, and performance optimization.

Solution Design & Delivery

• Translate business and functional requirements into technical architecture and solution designs.

• Review and validate detailed technical designs, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.

• Ensure non-functional requirements (security, performance, offline support, scalability) are addressed early in the design.

Mentorship & Code Quality

• Mentor developers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions.

• Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues and system-level debugging.

• Promote clean code, modular design, and testability across teams.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

• As part of the product discovery phase, you will collaborate with UX designers, product owners, and backend architects.

• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Support estimation, planning, and risk assessment from a technical standpoint.

DevOps & Engineering Excellence

• Define and improve CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications, including build, test, and deployment strategies.

• Advocate for automation, monitoring, and proactive quality controls.

• Ensure effective use of version control (Git) and branching strategies at scale.

What You Bring:

• 12+ years of working experience post BS computer science or equivalent.
• Strong hands-on experience with SAP Mobile Development Kit (MDK).
• Deep understanding of mobile application architecture (iOS, Android, cross-platform).
• Working knowledge of Swift, Kotlin, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Solid experience with REST APIs, OData services, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Understanding of SAP backend concepts and data models.
• Excellent understanding of SAP HANA, SQL, DB query optimization.
• Proven experience designing scalable, maintainable, and secure mobile solutions.
• Familiarity with architectural patterns (layered architecture, MVVM/MVP, offline-first design).
• Experience with Git-based workflows and collaborative development.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD concepts and tools for mobile applications.
• Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Clear communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence technical direction.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with React Native/Flutter or other cross-platform mobile development frameworks.

• Knowledge of UI/UX design principles and collaboration with design teams.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., SAP BTP) and their integration with mobile applications.

• Understanding of automated testing frameworks for mobile applications.
