Senior Program Manager - Contract & License Management

Mercedes-Benz Research & Development India (MBRDI) is driving the technological future of mobility across the global value chain. As part of the Mercedes-Benz Tech India network, this role sits at the intersection of technology, governance, and cost optimization.

You will lead a high-impact team responsible for global contract lifecycle management, software license governance, and software asset management (SAM), ensuring compliance, efficiency, and cost effectiveness at scale.

Role Objective

• Own and drive global contract and license management strategy across Mercedes-Benz
• Ensure audit compliance, cost optimization, and risk mitigation across all software and licensing ecosystems
• Lead AI-driven transformation and automation initiatives within contract and license management
• Build and lead a high-performing team delivering global IT support services

Key Responsibilities

1. Functional Leadership – Contract & License Management (%)

• Own end-to-end contract lifecycle management and software license governance
• Ensure accurate entitlement tracking, compliance, and optimization of software assets
• Manage CAT1 / CAT2 global publishers and cross-charging mechanisms
• Identify risks related to contracts, licenses, and usage; implement mitigation strategies
• Drive insights from contract and license data for cost savings and process improvements

2. Program & Transformation Leadership (%)

• Lead global technology programs ensuring delivery excellence (time, quality, cost)
• Drive AI-led transformation including:AI-assisted contract reviewLicense optimization analyticsWorkflow automation
• Lead change management initiatives across global stakeholders
• Collaborate across functions to enhance transparency and asset visibility
• Ensure stakeholder satisfaction through structured engagement and reporting

3. People Leadership & Governance (%)

• Lead and develop a team of ~+ professionals (contract managers, license managers, analysts)
• Build a high-performance, inclusive, and collaborative team culture
• Drive hiring, capability building, and succession planning
• Own budget planning and cost optimization initiatives
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, audit requirements, and regulatory standards

Qualifikationen

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any discipline) or MBA (General Administration)

Experience

• + years of experience in automotive tech / software / IT domains
• Proven experience in:Global contract management or license managementDriving digital transformation initiatives using KPIs and metricsLeading large, cross-functional global teamsDelivering innovation-led business impact

Skills & Competencies

• Strong expertise in contract and license management frameworks
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Data-driven decision-making mindset
• Strong leadership and people management capabilities
• Intercultural awareness and global collaboration experience
• Fluent in Business English (German is a plus)
