The Mumbai trading hub is one of the firm's newest APAC desks — being staffed selectively to take a frontline seat in Indian equity and equity-derivative markets, integrated with the firm's Sydney, Hong Kong and Shanghai trading desks.

About the Role

This is a pure middle office analyst seat — not back-office, not front-office. The role is the line of last defence on the firm's daily operational truth across trades, positions and P&L. You will sit at the intersection of front office (traders), the global in-house systems, and the clearers / custodians who settle the day's flow.

The work centres on three reconciliations, every day:

• Trade reconciliation — every trade booked by the front office has flowed through to the middle office and matches the clearer's record.
• Position reconciliation — front office, middle office and clearer / custodian all agree on positions; investigate and resolve mismatches.
• P&L reconciliation — produce the final, official daily P&L including costs, fees, gap charges and exception adjustments. The number that goes to head office.

What you'll do

1. Reconciliations & Exception Management — the core craft

• Run all three reconciliations daily — trade, position and P&L — across equities, futures and equity derivatives.
• Compile and reconcile trades, transactions and positions between front-office, middle-office and clearer / custodian records.
• Ensure trades are captured efficiently and in a timely manner, and that positions are accurate and reconciled to external brokers.
• Provide daily profit and loss estimates for the day's activity.
• Investigate exceptions — late trades, broker file errors, missing legs — and resolve cleanly.

2. Trade Lifecycle & Desk Support

• Prepare and submit delivery instructions for proprietary trading flow.
• Assist with managing trading positions, margins, trades, corporate actions, P&L and treasury management.
• Coordinate with the global middle office team in the morning; with brokers, clearers, custodians and banks during the day (FX confirms, file follow-ups, cash credits).
• Offer investment analysis and market commentary to the trading desks where useful.
• Operate algorithmic trading tools under instruction from traders.

3. Liaison & Relationships

• Act as the key liaison between desk traders and clearers, brokers, exchanges and all internal departments — compliance, technology, finance, treasury.
• Maintain strong working relationships with traders, brokers, clearers and custodians at desk pace.

4. Regulatory, Compliance & Audit

• Maintain daily process discipline within the SEBI / exchange regulatory framework — ensuring exchange and regulatory compliance.
• Keep abreast of exchange / SEBI guidelines on broking, clearing, trading and risk management.
• In conjunction with compliance, manage regulatory enquiries and audit requests.
• Own periodic regulatory and exchange reporting requirements.

5. Systems, Automation & Project Ownership

• Update and manage exchange trading systems, proprietary trading applications and Excel spreadsheets.
• Use buffer time to automate manual desk work in Python, VBA, SQL or advanced Excel.
• Take ownership of desk projects and improvement initiatives end-to-end.

What we're looking for

Experience & Reconciliation Depth

• 3–5 years in a global trade ops / middle office function — hands-on, not senior, not management.
• Demonstrated depth across all three reconciliations — trade, position and P&L. Most candidates have one of the three; we are screening for all three.

Product & Markets Knowledge

• Thorough knowledge of equity and equity derivative products — strikes, lots, exercise / assignment, corporate actions.
• Investment knowledge of Asian financial markets, specifically India — helpful but not strictly required (specific tooling will be trained).

Tools & Technology

• Bloomberg fluency and advanced Excel are baseline.
• Basic Python / VBA / SQL is a meaningful plus — for automating manual desk work in buffer time.
• Comfort with global in-house reconciliation systems; ability to learn and adapt to new software and systems quickly.

Relationships & Temperament

• Ability to build strong and positive relationships both internally and with broker / clearer / custodian contacts.
• Works well within a team and builds strong relationships with team members.
• Detail-oriented, calm, and fast at desk pace.
• Comfortable on a trading floor — physically and culturally; able to move throughout the trading floor as needed.
